The Sofa Makeover

Hind site is always 20/20 I tell you what.  I am so disappointed in myself for not taking a before photo of our old IKEA sofa to really show you a good before and after.  But just picture a very very ugly and dirty cover from two kids, a dog, and a husband ;-P.  Well, I am so happy to show you our new slip cover from Bemz!

If you haven’t heard of Bemz, they made custom slip covers for IKEA furniture. Whether it be a chair, sofa, bed, pillows, dinning chairs, you name it- they make it!

After our first Bemz slip cover for our Farlov sofa, I was hooked.  It has been over a year and I am still obsessed with it!  It has held up amazing with kids/hubby/dog, and I am more than pleased.  I will say I do TRY to keep some ground rules which has helped.  Like washing your hands after dinner, and no food on the couch, but it sure has had it’s unexpected stains, and has washed up well!

Okay, back to this sofa.  This is the Erktorp sofa from IKEA.  Its cheap.  But cheap fit the bill with a new born baby, and a toddler still in diapers.  But, it’s been three years, and I couldn’t be more ready for this beautiful slip cover. I told my husband it made the couch more comfortable now.  He may have laughed at the idea, but come on?!  It’s so cute- I think I just felt more comfortable sitting there ;-P.  And, I still cringe thinking of getting it’s first stain.  I know, its inevitable with a family, and I’ve been known to spill my coffee a time or two, but hey, that’s what slip covers and a washing machine is for right?!

And just to let you know what I chose, this is the linen cover called Brera Lino Graphite in a loose country fit.  I love all the wrinkles linen brings, and the relaxed fit for a comfortable and airy playroom 🙂
